With the United Nations CRPD treaty coming back up, it's time to tell the US Senate to protect parental rights and national sovereignty by voting no on ratification of this dangerous treaty. You can make a difference. The New York state director for our partner organization, ParentalRights.org, is organizing a Twitter Rally telling the Senate to #RejectCRPD. Please join us and tweet anytime now through the end of the year as we tell the Senate to say no to this dangerous treaty. Learn more and join the effort by clicking here! We've heard that the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is coming up again in the US Senate. The Foreign Relations Committee is expected to hold hearings on the treaty in late October. What are the dangers of this treaty? Here's what out friends at HSLDA, who have been front and center during the entire battle over the CRPD, have said:
TAKE ACTION

The vote was 87-10 with three abstentions.
Those who voted against Power were: Lee (R-UT) Paul (R-KY) Rubio (R-FL) Scott (R-SC) Shelby (R-AL) Vitter (R-LA) Barrasso (R-WY) Cruz (R-TX) Enzi (R-WY) Heller (R-NV) To see the full voting record click here "As a long-time champion of human rights and dignity, she will be a fierce advocate for universal rights, fundamental freedoms and U.S. national interests," President Obama said in a written statement after the vote. Human Rights is not the issue on which the United Nations is to concentrate. As pointed out in the past, the UN should not be making law, even law with which the United States agrees. Top conservatives in the Senate voted against her nomination. Rubio had earlier forced Power to backtrack on statements made in the past during her confirmation hearings.
Rubio sadly seemed to be in the minority, with most senators not concerned with Power's former remarks. Senator Menendez went so far as to say that the critisism meant she "must be doing something right," but looking at her record it seems plainly obvious that she is not for America. In her book "Problem from Hell; America and the age of genocide" she complained that America has not condemned genocide - even though the United States often condemns acts of genocide.
Senator Orrin Hatch, a Republican from Utah, spoke against the CRPD on the Senate floor today. Here are some excerpts of his remarks: "When Alexander Hamilton explained the American system of representative self-government, he famously said that in America 'the people govern; here, they act by their immediate representatives.' Those words today are inscribed above an entrance to the House of Representatives in the Capitol, a building that Thomas Jefferson described as 'dedicated to the sovereignty of the people'... The CRPD would undermine that sovereignty, compromise self-government, and give the last word to the United Nations. "Ratifying the CRPD will not establish a single right for a single American, it will not provide for Americans with disabilities anything that American law has not or could not provide. It would not even help Americans with disabilities who travel overseas because their treatment depends on the laws and policies of other countries, not ours.
